E-mentors can help you with your classroom research or projects. It is fun and interesting and gives you information and resources that might be hard to find. An e-mentor can be helpful if you want:

  • a primary resource for your term paper

  • someone to review your research

  • to learn more about a specific career and its opportunities

  • help in finding more resources on a particular topic

  • opinions from experts

  • experiences and insights from a professional in a scientific or technical field

  • the perspective of someone who has "been there"

  • to know how your academic studies relate to "real world"

Here are some past projects where students have benefited from having an e-mentor:

A high school student in Kansas City Kansas has a mentor who helped her know more about web design. "The most valuable thing I learned was that webmastering is a wide field and if you take time and dedication you may be very successful".

Nutritionists and dietitians were mentors to high school students in Bonner Springs. The students developed their own nutritional plans with the help of their e-mentors.

Fifth grade students in the Center School District learned about weather from their mentors. They learned how wind currents affect temperature and how signs in nature can help predict the weather.

Students from Fort Osage middle school studied countries of the world with the help of mentors who had lived in those countries.

Scientists from a research institute helped a student learn about cellular aging.

Mentors from an engineering company and university helped a student from Blue Valley do research on cleaning up oil spills for her environmental class project.
